Today I went to see ‘The Impossible’.

It was incredible. (I will try my best not to put any spoilers in this review)

Frightening. Graphic. Eye Opening. Shocking.

I didn’t know it was possible for a film to be, both, heart-warming and heartbreaking at the same time. The actors, including Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts, were so brilliant. However, the star performance came from ,young actor, Tom Holland. It’s hard to believe that this was his first film role as he was so brilliant. After reading an interview with the actual family, each cast member gave such an accurate portrayal of the events that took place, their performances were so raw and full of emotion that I felt as if I were watching actual footage of that family over those days. Some parts were truly terrifying, at one point I realised my hands were gripping the arm rests so tight they hurt.

It was very effective how, although the film was focused around this particularly family, the film showed just how many people were affected and that the majority of these people’s story’s did not end happily. Even through such means as panning out of a scene to show the extent of people looking for family members. Every part of this film was so well done and thought out to make it the true masterpiece it is.  I felt disorientated, slightly sick, relieved, sad, worried, happy, nearly every emotion under the sun in one film.

Truly Amazing.
